Crater Lake National Park can be reached in 4 hours drive from Portland. 

A long time ago, 7700 years from now a volcanic peak collapsed and created a vast lake on the territory of the Park. 

Crater park consists of a cascade of mountains, beautifully stretched in the Southern part of Oregon. The name of the park is linked to the collapsed Mount Mazama volcano.

How to get to Crater Lake National Park 

The most popular route for traveling to Crater park is to take a flight to Portland airport (PDX) and drive a car to the park. There is one more route you might prefer – take a local flight to Redmond or Medford from Portland. In this case traveling by car to Crater National Park will be only 2 hours. 

Alternatively you can fly to SFO, San Francisco, or drive to Seattle. In this case you will be able to enjoy the views of a number of other beautiful parks on your way, like Olympic, Yosemite, Mount Rainier.
