The authorities of Thailand are going to review the introduction of special tourist visas for foreign guests. Such a visa will be issued for 90 days with the two times extension option for the same period. The maximum period of stay for the tourists visiting Thailand will be 270 days. This will be convenient for the travelers who visit Thailand for a long period of time. Price for issuing a tourist visa will be 2000 Thai bahts. 

Also, the possibility of opening the borders for foreigners is currently widely discussed. Given the current situation the authorities are looking for the best option to find a balance between security, opinion of local citizens and necessity to obtain income from the tourist sector, which makes 20% of VAT of Thailand. 

Phuket island will be open soon, and perhaps other islands will be also open for visitors.
