During the last few months some couples were forced to stay apart for more than 6 months because of the pandemic. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in France agreed to speed up the procedure for the couples, who were forced to stay in different countries because of Covid19.
In order to speed up the process of entering the country starting from August 2020 one of the partners must prove long term relations with a French citizen if the couple is not officially married. Many called this procedure humiliating, and later, according to Le Monde, it was reviewed.
In June the international couples, who could not visit each other, started a campaign “Love is not tourism” in social media. After that the Government of France decided to make the procedure for entering the country easier for the separated couples.
Currently travels inside the EU are allowed but a number of countries remain in the red zone. These are the people for whom France is going to review the terms and conditions of entering the country.
These couples will have to prove their relationships. The arguments proving long term relations can be photos and videos. Also, proof of staying in France together will be accepted. These can be the cheques, airplane tickets etc.
