One of the most beautiful parts of France, French Riviera, or also called Côte d’Azur, stretches from Saint-Tropez to Menton, which borders Italy.

Côte d’Azur is translated as “Coast of Blue,” which reflects the deep azure-blue color of the Mediterranean Sea.

This is the visiting card of Nice. Numerous beaches, a comfortable pedestrian area along the Mediterranean coast, cafes and restaurants make Promenade des Anglais one of the best places to visit in Côte d’Azur during holidays.

Promenade des Anglais is the most famous street in Nice.

If you want to feel the atmosphere of the local life of the French Riviera, make sure to visit the Cours Saleya, an open air Provencal market.

It is located just a few steps from Promenade des Anglais, in Quai des États-Unis and it is easy to find.

You will find plenty of beautiful flowers, fresh fruits and vegetables, and locally produced food in the market. It is open every day except for Monday.

One more beautiful place to visit in Nice is the Jardin Albert, which is also loathed very close, within a walking distance to Promenade des Anglais.

The Jardin Albert is a public park with aromatic roses, beautiful fountains and pine trees.

Saint-Tropez

Saint-Tropez is one more beautiful place on the French Riviera.

This travel destination became popular after Brigitte Bardot was filmed in Saint Tropez in the 1950s.

Before that this was a tiny fishing village.

Today Saint Tropez is one of the best places to visit in French Riviera, with plenty of restaurants, cafes, fashion boutiques, and more.

If you are visiting Saint Tropez, make sure to go to the old port. This is one of the most popular local tourist attractions and the views opening from the port are marvelous.

Cannes

Cannes attracts thousands of tourists each year, the highest season in Cannes is July and August.

People travel to Cannes to enjoy the sea, the sun and spend their summer holidays in one of the most comfortable places in the South of France.

In La Croisette Boulevard, the city’s main street, you will find the most popular beaches. These are municipal and private beaches.

The beaches in Cannes are sandy, most of the public beaches are free.

There are plenty of cafes and restaurants along La Croisette Boulevard, where you can have lunch or dinner.

Monaco

Monaco is a world known prestigious travel site and one of the best places to visit in the French Riviera.

Monaco has a special status in the French Riviera, and is the location of the residences of the Royal Family.

You can plan a visit to the Palais des Princes de Monaco to find out about the history of this place and learn more about the current life of Monaco.

There are more beautiful places to visit in Monaco: Port Hercule, Oceanographic museum, Chapelle de la Visitation.

The best way to discover Monaco is by foot – just walk around to enjoy the sea views and the city. Keep in mind that in some locations you will have to go up the hill.

There are plenty of beautiful places in the South of France. You can select 5-6 to visit during 1 week trip to French Riviera and combine your vacations with the rest at the seaside.

If you would like to see the best of French Riviera, make sure to stay here at least for 2 weeks and plan several visits.

During a year the weather is favorable for visiting best attractions. Only during popular events like Cannes Film Festival or during high tourist season in July and August the region is a bit overcrowded. Other then that you will not have any issues for visiting the most beautiful destinations in French Riviera.

    1. Hi, there are number of free public beaches in Cannes along La Croisette, stretching from Palais des Festivals. You can just walk around and select the one you like most of all. Just be reminded that in July and August there are PLENTY of people at the beaches in Cannes, and if you want to make sure you have a nice place, you need to come to the beach earlier, at least in the morning. 🙂 Wish you great vacations in Cannes!!
